Privacy Policy
FolderFort ("we," "us," or "our") operates the website folderfort.com and the FolderFort web and mobile applications. This policy explains how we collect, use, and protect information when you use our services. The short version: we collect what we need to run a storage service, we don't sell your personal information, and we don't access or analyze the contents of your files except as needed to operate the service.
1. Information We Collect
- Account information — such as your name, email address, and login credentials when you create an account.
- Billing information — payments are handled by our payment processors; we receive transaction details such as plan, amount, and status, but we do not store full payment card numbers.
- Your content — the files and folders you upload are stored so we can provide the service, along with related metadata such as file names, sizes, and folder structure, which we use for storage management and features like search and quotas.
- Usage and technical data — like most online services, we collect standard technical information such as IP address, browser and device type, and log data about interactions with the service. We use this for security, troubleshooting, capacity planning, and improving the service.
- Cookies and analytics — our website uses cookies and analytics tools to understand site traffic and the effectiveness of our campaigns, and to power features such as live chat support.
2. How We Use Information
- To provide, operate, and maintain the service, including allocating storage and bandwidth.
- To process payments, manage subscriptions, and apply the correct plan to your account.
- To respond to support requests and communicate with you about your account and the service.
- To protect the service — detecting and preventing fraud, abuse, and security incidents.
- To understand how our website and service are used so we can improve them.
- To comply with legal obligations.
3. Your Files
You control your content. You can view, organize, share, and delete your files at any time. We do not access or analyze the contents of your files except as necessary to operate the service (for example, storing, transferring, or restoring them), to comply with law, or where you ask us to as part of a support request. Files are protected with layered encryption — see our encryption overview for details.
4. Sharing and Third-Party Services
We do not sell your personal information. We share information only with service providers that help us run FolderFort — such as cloud storage infrastructure (including Backblaze), payment processing, email delivery, support and chat tools, and analytics — and only as needed for them to perform those services. These providers operate under their own privacy policies. We may also disclose information where required by law or to protect the rights, safety, and security of FolderFort, our users, or others.
5. Security
We use technical and organizational measures appropriate to a cloud storage service, including encryption in transit and at rest, isolated key management, and access controls. No online service can guarantee absolute security, but protecting stored data is the core of what we do. More detail is on our encryption page.
6. Data Retention and Deletion
We keep your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service. When you delete content or your account, it is removed subject to limited retention where required for legal, security, fraud-prevention, billing, backup, or dispute-resolution purposes.
7. Your Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, export, or delete your personal information. You can manage most of this directly in your account, or contact us at support@folderfort.com and we'll help.
FolderFort Mobile App
The FolderFort mobile app lets users sign in to their FolderFort account, view files, upload files, manage storage, and use optional automatic media upload features.
Camera Access
FolderFort may request access to your camera so you can take a photo inside the app and upload it directly to your cloud storage. For example, you may use the camera to scan a receipt, document, or image and save it to your FolderFort drive. Camera access is only used when you choose to take a photo in the app. FolderFort does not use camera access for advertising, tracking, or background data collection.
Photos and Videos Access
FolderFort may request access to your photo library so you can choose photos or videos to upload to your cloud storage. If you enable Auto Upload, FolderFort may use photo library access to find eligible photos or videos and upload them to the destination folder you selected. FolderFort only uploads media you select or configure for Auto Upload.
Auto Upload
Auto Upload is an optional feature that can upload selected media from your device to your FolderFort cloud storage. You choose the source, destination folder, and settings such as Wi-Fi only, charging only, and media type. Auto Upload can be disabled at any time in the app settings.
Uploaded Files and Media
Files, photos, videos, and other media you upload are stored in your FolderFort account so you can access and manage them. Uploaded content remains in your account until you delete it, move it to trash, permanently delete it, or delete your account, subject to any retention or backup requirements needed to operate the service, comply with law, prevent abuse, or resolve disputes.
Subscriptions and Purchases
If you purchase a storage subscription through the mobile app, FolderFort receives purchase verification information from Apple or Google, such as product ID, transaction ID, subscription status, and expiration or renewal information. This information is used to verify the purchase, apply the correct storage plan to your account, restore purchases, prevent fraud, and maintain subscription access.
Account Deletion
You can initiate account deletion from within the FolderFort mobile app. Deleting your account permanently removes your account and associated data, subject to limited retention where required for legal, security, fraud prevention, billing, backup, or dispute-resolution purposes.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the updated date at the bottom of this page. We encourage you to check this page periodically to stay informed about how we protect the information we collect.
